Installing Double Closet Doors

Double folding doors are a marked improvement over traditional sliding doors so common on closet. While the older style dies only, you admit to access half the closet at the same time. And can be very difficult to open and close, swing double closet doors open easily to reveal the entire closet space. Installing double folding doors is generally very simple, requiring a bit more than turning the track and pushing the door into place.

Lift the existing sliding doors for free and remove them. Turn the track for sliding doors, or cover it with three trim if it is flush. Skip this step if you are installing double closet doors in a new closet, rather than replacing an old door. Measure the doorway and buy a pair of double folding doors to fit. If you cannot find a fit, buy a set a bit too big and shave it to the size of a power plans.

Screw the surface mount the track to the top of the frame. Use a solder bob to find the right position of the lower joint, just below the track. Turn the pivot brackets into place, either corner of the floor. Enter one of the doors of the current lower pivot point. Attached to the outer upper corner of the upper pivot and the inner corner of the slot. Repeat for the second double closet doors.
